GALLUP, N.M. - The South Carolina National Guard has joined the Southwest Indian Foundation and members of the U.S. Military in building homes for Native American veterans.
"We bring all our guys out here, try to get some trade-specific jobs going on here," said South Carolina Air National Guard Captain Justin Larson.
The service members are building 10 homes in Gallup.
"You know, a lot of families that we work with have been living in some pretty tough situations for a lot of years sometimes, and so for them, it's gratitude and relief,” said Jeremy Boucher, who works for the Southwest Indian Foundation.
The members of the military will work through September building the homes.
