It reportedly continued into Dexter, where it destroyed 10 homes. Five people were checked out at the hospital for minor injuries.

Chaves County Mike Herrington in a statement says cleanup won't start Wednesday because heavy winds of up to 70 mph are blowing debris around.

In Loving, people reported a tornado and golf ball-sized hail. The storm has also caused flooding in Artesia from massive amounts of rain.

"Right now, we're just in the initial process of stabilizing structures and checking for any of the victims that we may have," said James Salas of the Dexter Fire Department.

The Red Cross will be offering help for storm victims at the Lindell Andrews Community Center in Hagerman.
