ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Real estate is one industry that has not slowed down in New Mexico during the pandemic.

Silver City has seen an influx of people from out of state who want to call New Mexico home.

"People are moving from the larger cities into the more rural areas, smaller communities," said Silver City's Assistant Town Manager James Marshall. "There's less density."

Marshall said the town utility hookup went from about five per month to nearly 30.

"Right outside of town has developed more," Marshall said. "The three-mile radius around the municipality is probably the most growth."

Realtors said buyers are primarily from neighboring states including Texas, Colorado, and Arizona.
