Smith's gives employees bonus, raises for working during COVID-19 crisis

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Smith's Food & Drug announced Wednesday it will give all hourly front-line grocery, supply chain, manufacturing, pharmacy and call center associates with a $2 raise for hours worked between March 29-April 18.

Employees will also earn $3 extra for each hour of overtime they work.

“Our associates have displayed the true actions of a hero, working tirelessly on the front lines to ensure everyone has access to affordable, fresh food and essentials during this national emergency,” said Kenny Kimball, President of Smith’s.

In addition to the hourly wage increase, employees will also receive a bonus of up to $300. 

Smith's also said it's taking extra steps to protect employees and customers from COVID-19. The company will install plexiglass partitions in check-out lanes, provide workers with protective masks and gloves and enhance daily sanitation practices.
