Spring River Park and Zoo celebrating 25 days of Zoo Christmas

ROSWELL, N.M.- For the first time ever, Spring River Park and Zoo is celebrating 25 Days of Zoo Christmas.

From Dec. 1 through Dec. 26, three different animals receive gifts each, with the exception of Christmas.

It is a part of the zoo’s enrichment program for the animals, which helps with their overall quality of life.

"Today, we gave a Christmas tree with crickets, and a box with different scents inside of it to the coati. They're very scent oriented animals, and they love insects. So, this is something they enjoyed doing,” Woods said.

The pronghorn and goat were given branches wrapped in Christmas paper.  

The zoo encourages the public to watch the animals enjoy the holidays.
