RIO ARRIBA COUNTY, N.M. – New Mexico State Police are investigating a deadly crash near the town of Chimayo.

It happened at about 8:10 a.m. Wednesday morning on County Road 98.  Police say officers arrived on the scene to find it was a single-vehicle crash, and a silver Honda had hit a barbed wire fence.

Police say the driver, 42-year-old Rudy Sandoval of Hernandez, was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe, but he later died from his injuries.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, however the investigation is still underway.
