SANTA FE, N.M. - New Mexico is full of places that make for great Staycations. After spending a year traveling the Land of Enchantment, KOB’s Steve Soliz found some great spots.
One of them, of course, is Santa Fe. It’s rich in history and culture.
"People in New Mexico should cherish Santa Fe and realize that we own it. We have it and it's the easiest for us to get to," said Randy Randall, Tourism Director for the City of Santa Fe.
Santa Fe is known for its New Mexican cuisine, but it's the margarita that's blazing its own trail.
People from all over are taking a stroll on the Margarita Trail.
Locals and tourists will find more than 30 restaurants along the trail, showing off their unique Santa Fe-inspired margaritas.
"While they're having fun experimenting with these varieties of margaritas, they can earn prizes as they go along," said Randall.
There’s also passport people can get stamped after tasting each margarita.
The Santa Fe Trail Margarita, at Del Charro Saloon, features green chile infused tequila, green chile power, and red chile flakes.
It’s a drink that is New Mexico true, just the like city.
"Santa Fe can be a place of this incredible culture and history and art, but it can also be a place to have fun and let your hair down a little bit," Randall said.
