ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Students at San Juan College in Farmington will soon get the opportunity to live on campus.

The college broke ground Friday on its first on-campus student housing facility.

"A lot of times when people visit college campuses, they say ‘where is the housing,’ and if we say we don’t have housing, they start to think it’s not a real college, and San Juan College has been a real college for quite some time," said Edward Desplas, executive vice president of San Juan College.

The three-story building will hold 150 beds– with two to four bed units and other amenities available for residents.

"We’re slated to finish in the spring, probably the latter part of the spring," said Chris Harrelson, senior director of the physical plant. "That will give us the summer to get ready for the students to move in August of 2022."
