HOBBS, N.M. – New details are emerging about an officer-involved shooting that unfolded in Hobbs in March.

Investigators say Hobbs police were serving a warrant on a homicide suspect, Jose Acosta, at a home when he fled and got into a vehicle.

Acosta then allegedly sped toward an officer when he was told to get out of the car. Investigators say that's when the officer fired shots and Acosta lost control of the car and crashed.

He was treated for minor injuries before being arrested.
