Farmington police spokesperson Georgette Allen said officers were responded to an apartment complex on Walnut Drive around 3:30 a.m. where 30-year-old Antonio Coochwikvia had been stabbed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

However, police quickly identified the suspect as 20-year-old Eagles Kassanavoid who was found several hours later in west Farmington. He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

Kassanavoid has been booked into the San Juan County Detention Center on an open count of murder, tampering with evidence and resisting arrest.
