ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Workers at MC Electric in Espanola got a surprise when they arrived for work Wednesday morning.

“We came in the door and the radio was full blast and the shower was going and a bunch of hot steam was running out and the floor was all wet,” said Kristopher Cordova.

After inspecting the office further, workers found a man sleeping on the couch.

Cordova and his father, Melvin, recorded their interaction with the man, who was later identified as Juan Lovato.

He told them that he didn’t break into the business alone and then proceeded to name two other men.

Cordova said they found drugs in the business and believe Lovato fell asleep after getting high.

“When he woke up, he was in total shock,” Cordova said. “He didn’t know how to react.”

Lovato was eventually arrested, but police are still looking for the two men he identified.

Cordova said they stole various electronics, computers and printers, along with a number of checks.

“Stuff like this can be replaced but I’m thankful my dad didn’t get hurt,” Cordova said.

To try an prevent future break-ins, the Cordovas said they will install iron bars on the windows.
