ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Hundreds of University of New Mexico students came together to take a stand against sexual assault.

Students met with UNM Police officers at Popejoy Hall to discuss their experience with sexual assault on campus and what can be done to prevent it.

The event was organized by the "It's On Us" organization. The national campaign hopes to change the way students view sexual assault, especially victims so they don't feel like they have to face it on their own.

"Rather than making rules and regulations about it, it's our goal here to just get students to talk about it, to change their ideas about it, and to make a difference here on campus especially," said Maddie Starkweather, a representative with the campaign.

The "It's On Us" campaign hopes to have more events throughout the year.
