San Juan County's Air One helicopter shows two people standing behind a truck. Farmington police say 58-year old Norbert Beyet was threatening his family with a gun.

Officers on the ground moved in.

“Police! Put your hands up now! Show us your hands," and officer could be heard yelling.

The edited video from Farmington police points out what officers saw: Beyet and a woman behind the truck and another family member moving on the porch.

The officers moved closer after seeing Beyet is armed. As they approached the truck, an officer fires a shot.

Beyet fell to the ground. Police said a handgun was found near Beyet’s body.

Farmington Police Chief Steve Hebbe said he believes officers acted appropriately.

"Based on the facts we now know, the officers actions were within policy and training,” Hebbe said in a video statement.

A separate investigation by the San Juan County Sheriff's office has been completed, and is being reviewed by the district attorney.
