FARMINGTON, N.M.- Animals appear to be enjoying the warmer weather in the Four Corners.

From ducklings going for roadside runs to sheep going for joyrides, the summer weather is bringing out some party animals.

"They really need to be out just as much as we do,” said Brenda Fitzgerald, animal control officer for the Farmington Police Department.

While the encounters may seem like harmless fun, law enforcement officers are asking residents to remember to be cautious if they cross paths with wild animals.

“If you encounter one, keep your distance,” Fitzgerald said. “They get out of their vehicle and they try to help this animal and it can be more dangerous for them especially if there is a lot of traffic."
