ROSWELL, N.M.- People in southeastern New Mexico have been forced to clean up the mess left behind by strong winds.

In Roswell, the wind brought down light poles to broke tree limbs.

“Luckily Roswell didn’t experience the tornado winds that got Dexter and Hagerman,” said Ed McClelland, the manager at Sunwest Center.

However, McClelland experienced the strong winds in Roswell firsthand.

"There was a lot of wind in the area, and some wind got a part of the façade up on the building, some of it got loose, and started peeling. We had pieces that broke early that we secured, and then an additional section came down,” McClelland said.

A video from viewer Joshua Stansfield shows metal sheets flying off the 10 story building.

Construction crews have been working hard since early Friday morning to get the job done.

There were no injuries reported when the Sunwest Center was damaged. North Main Street was closed Friday during the repairs to keep everyone safe.
