ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— KOB 4 Meteorologist Eddie Garcia received a new question for his You Asked 4 It series:

“What types of snow are there and which one is the best to play in,” Jackson asked.

Eddie said there are many different kinds of snow and it’s not all created equal.

The key lies in different combinations of temperature and moisture.

To make a large snowflake, there needs to be a lot of moisture in the air and the temperature needs to be between about zero and 10 degrees.

Eddie said large snowflakes stack on top of each other, creating snow that is great for skiing.

Smaller snowflakes form in slightly warmer temperatures, between 26 and 32 degrees.

This type of snow tends to be wetter and thicker, which means it's not the best for skiing. However, it is good for building a snowman.
