ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Fire Rescue is getting ready to welcome a new ladder truck to address thousands more calls over the next decade, at least.

AFR’s newest ladder truck is coming to Albuquerque from a manufacturer in Wisconsin. It is the department’s fifth new piece of equipment in five years.

AFR Lt. Jason Fejer said a lot of work goes into each one.

“From the date of order to the date of delivery is three to four years, so a lot of time goes in,” Lt. Fejer said. “There’s hundreds of line items on these build sheets and we go through every single one of them.”

The new truck is expected to be in Albuquerque by next week and in service by early-March. It’s going to Station 17 that covers a big portion of the West Side.

AFR is scheduled to get two engines in April and a new rescue in May.
