Video: DWI scheme attorney’s home broken into after FBI raid

Home of local attorney involved in DWI scheme broken into after FBI raid

On the day he takes a plea deal, KOB 4 got video of Thomas Clear III's home getting broken into weeks after the FBI raided it.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – As attorney Thomas Clear III pleaded guilty to charges for a DWI scheme he led, KOB 4 obtained video of police responding to a break-in at the home he used as a law office.

It happened just weeks after the FBI raided the office. Surveillance video shows one man go around and shut off the power. In the video, Clear suggested he may have been cooperating with the FBI.

“I was going to do a debrief and meet with the agents last night on my – oh, and then to top it off, yesterday, the agents came and took my phone and my laptop to mirror them.”

Clear also said he called the FBI after calling 911. In a walkthrough with police, he noted papers scattered on the floor. He also pointed out drawers and filing cabinets that were opened.

Clear told police that whoever broke in was looking for something. However, the only thing Clear noted as missing, and the only thing listed as stolen in the police report, was a collection of autographed baseballs.
