New Mexico officials release statements following Trump inauguration
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – It was a historic day in Washington, D.C., as Donald Trump was inaugurated Monday as the 47th President of the United States.
Trump became just the second president to serve nonconsecutive terms. Moments after he took the oath, he touching on some key issues in his inaugural address.

Amy Barela, the chair of the Republican Party of New Mexico, released the following statement:

While we respect President Trump’s right to articulate the domestic priorities of his second administration, it is important that we also reassure New Mexicans of our commitment to uphold the rule of law without fear or favor. As always, we will work with our state and federal law enforcement partners to improve public safety in every community in our state, but we will not hesitate to resist any enforcement action that violates the law or the Constitution.”
