4-H is a Family Affair: The Moore Family
August 22, 2019 03:22 PM
Fairs around our state provide a place where young people can learn life skills like responsibility and persistence all while building a sense of community between 4-H families.
It’s incredible the number of hours that go into many of these projects and at the fairs, 4-H participants have a chance to demonstrate mastery in their projects.
During the fair, 4-H kids exhibit a variety of projects from rockets to rabbits and sewing to steers. While competition is an important aspect of 4-H and fairs, the real mission of 4-H is developing blue ribbon kids, not blue ribbon projects.
Blue ribbon kids learn life skills such as dedication, giving a project their best, and helping others. It’s a hands-on learning process that teaches them skills they’ll use throughout the rest of their lives.
