ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The 13th annual New Mexico Bowl will be without its title sponsor this year.
Gildan, the Canadian apparel company, has ended its relationship with the New Mexico Bowl.
"Yeah, the intent is to have a title sponsor,” said Jeff Siembieda the Executive Director of the New Mexico Bowl. “But, we have contingencies for a situation like this where we don't.”
Siembieda attributes losing the title sponsor to internal changes on Gildan’s end.
Gildan had been the title sponsor for the last 7 years. Siembieda said that’s the 7th longest title sponsorship relationship for bowl games in the country.
The state of New Mexico contributes varying amounts of money every year to promote tourism in the state.
“We're healthy, we're strong, we're not in trouble. And, obviously, ideally, we'll have a title sponsor next year,” Siembieda said.
