Apple Invites | What the Tech? App of the Day

Here's an app that may be on your phone – but may not be the best app you can get on your phone.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (WHAT THE TECH?) — Any app that helps get friends together in real life should be celebrated and that’s what Apple Invites is all about.

The app creates and sends invitations to in-person events and parties. For those with an Apple account, the app is really easy to use.

You’ll need to download Apple Invites from the app store. Once in, the host creates the evite by adding all pertinent information about the event and choosing the contacts they want to invite. They can add photos from the camera roll, choose a theme or use Apple’s new “Image Playground” to create unique images.

I had mixed results with Image Playground. When you enter the location of the get-together, it shows up on a map and they’ll get directions and a forecast for the day. You’ll need to send the invitations by email or text and I found this needs to be done one at a time. I didn’t see an option to send them all at once.

Invites is an fine app. But, it pales in comparison to another App of the Day “Partiful”. This powerful Evite app allows invited guests to weigh in on the date and time before you send out invitations to everyone. When I received this Partiful invitation I could see every response, which builds anticipation knowing other people are excited about the event.

So if you need one app for Evites, I suggest Partiful. For iPhone users who only want Apple products, Apple Invites is a fine app.
