AFR: 1 dead in fire near southwest Albuquerque home

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Crews found one person dead Thursday morning while responding to a fire behind a home in southwest Albuquerque.
Around 6:22 a.m., Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to reports of a possible fire at a home in the 5200 block of Central Avenue, near 53rd Street. Crews arrived and found smoke and fire coming from the shed behind the home. They said they put the fire out in around 19 minutes.
Crews found one person died from injuries sustained in the fire. No firefighters were injured.
The shed has smoke and fire damage and AFR describes it as now being uninhabitable.
AFR’s arson division is investigating the fire.
