Authorities arrest 2 accused of triple murder in Lincoln County
LINCOLN COUNTY, N.M. — Authorities in Lincoln County arrested two people accused of killing three people and burning their bodies in a vehicle last month.
Kane Mayes and Cassandra Douglas each face three counts of first-degree murder as well as charges of tampering with evidence and conspiracy.
Mayes is accused of killing three family members on Jan. 22 in Bent, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Douglas is accused of helping Mayes burn their bodies in a vehicle and set it on fire.
Authorities arrested Douglas on Jan. 27 in Roswell while law enforcement in Mississippi tracked down Mayes, according to the sheriff’s office.
Mayes also faces charges of aggravated armed burglary, arson and two counts of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
