Man sentenced to 9 months on child sex charge in online operation

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A judge sentenced a man who pleaded guilty to asking for sex from an undercover officer posing as a child on social media.
Authorities arrested Rafael Rosas in October as a part of a joint operation by Albuquerque and Santa Fe police, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and the New Mexico Department of Justice. Rosas pleaded guilty Dec. 20 to third-degree felony child solicitation. He faced a charge of attempted criminal sexual penetration – but that was dropped as a part of the deal.
Prosecutors asked the judge to give Rosas the full year-and-a-half sentence. However, the judge sentenced him to nine months.
