Police arrest alleged repeat shoplifter in Santa Fe

Santa Fe police and New Mexico State Police worked together to arrest the suspect on a felony shoplifting charge.

SANTA FE, N.M. — Two New Mexico law enforcement agencies worked together in Santa Fe to stop a suspect accused of multiple cases of shoplifting.

New Mexico State Police arrested Carlos Vigil outside of a Target store Monday afternoon. The store’s loss prevention team contacted the Santa Fe Police Department about an alleged repeat offender attempting to steal more items.

Santa Fe police approached Vigil when he was walking out of the store with a shopping cart. Vigil ran off – right into NMSP officers waiting there for him.

Police say he stole more than $500 worth of stuff. That constitutes a felony charge.
