Cleveland wins 6A state championship in Rio Rancho rivalry game matchup

RIO RANCHO, N.M. - Cleveland and Rio Rancho went head-to-head for the 6A state football title Saturday.

Rio Rancho's Isaiah Chavez put points on the scoreboard first when he scored the first of four touchdowns.

Cleveland answered with 21 straight points. Dorian Lewis gave the Storm the lead by going 24 yards for a touchdown.

Lewis scored five touchdowns throughout the game.

In the final minute, the give went to Rio Rancho's Zack Vigil where he was tackled at the 2 yard line.

Cleveland beat Rio Rancho 48-40.
