ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It's been a busy summer for the West Mesa Mustangs – the defending state champions.

The Mustangs took part in this weekend's Lobo team camp.

They lost three seniors including all-state point guard Maiah Rivas.

Head coach Manny Otero said the summer tournaments are big for his team in the offseason.

"Appreciate the time here, like I said, just getting better game by game and we're happy to be a part of UNM team camp," Otero said. "It's been good, we're excited. We're getting some new personnel and getting the girls that haven't had that much experience on the varsity level... bringing them up-to-date and it's been awesome."
