ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- A Highland basketball star is starting from scratch.
Tommy Huyhn thought his college plans were set. Following a trip to the state finals, Huyhn was committed to Holy Family college in Wisconsin
However, he learned school will be closing.
"All the players were receiving emails saying that the school was going to permanently close after the summer session," Huyhn said. "I was in real shock because just like so many of the coaches had showed me love over the last few weeks."
The very next day Huyhn got right back to work, training at the local park.
Now, Huyhn is back in contact with schools from around the country, trying to figure out his next move
At the same time, he's still thinking about the lives effected by the closing of Holy Family
"Everyone is forced to find a new home now, so I was just in shock at first-- like I couldn't believe it," he said. "I kind of still in like remorse and in shock, so it's kind of hard to make a decision to wrap my head around it."
Huyhn plans to take a few weeks to figure out where he will attend college.
