ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Legendary New Mexico high school football coach Bill Gentry passed away at age 93.

Gentry, a Navy veteran, played football at Slaton High School in Texas, Coffeyville Junior College in Kansas and at the University of New Mexico.

He coached at Eldorado High School and Highland High School.

From 1958 through 1987, Gentry served as the head football coach of Highland High School where he led the team to three state championships.

Gentry is survived by his wife, Mary, and three children.
