ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— When the Bulldogs are under the lights, Luke Mummert hardly ever comes off the field.

"Some play with emotions and some just play,” said Albuquerque High School football coach Tim Johnson. “Luke happens to be one of those that plays with a little bit of passion and emotion."

Mummert had a busy night when Albuquerque won against Highland last Friday.

At fullback, Mummert kept the ball moving and scored a touchdown.

At linebacker, he caused havoc with every tackle.

“Watched a ton of film just getting to know my opponent, getting to know, and I just really studied my cues. Just stick to the basics, making my reads, just knowing where to go and coming out fired up,” he said.

When Mummert is not in the film room, he is picking things up from team trainers.

He said he enjoys studying kinesiology.

“I pay attention a lot. My sister, she had a pretty bad back injury, so I was always hearing about all the stuff all about the kinesiology and stuff and whenever I'm getting taped up I'm always paying attention, seeing what's wrong with whatever injury it is just seeing kind of like the techniques and stuff."
