NMHSCA changes format for upcoming All-Star basketball games

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico High School Coaches Association announced the lineups for the upcoming all-star basketball games on March 19.

This year the NMHSCA will do things a bit differently. Instead of the rosters being divided regionally, they split the teams up into Green vs Red which, in some cases, divided up players from the same school.

For instance, Las Cruces all-state players Deuce Benjamin and Isaiah Carr were put on different squads.

Highland center Jose Murillo will play on team green opposite of Carr who will play on team red. This potentially matches up the big men to square off, featuring the two best post players in the state.

Carr is committed to play at the next level at Grand Canyon. Murillo is currently undecided.

The 5A-4A all-star games will be played at Santa Fe High School Saturday. The 3A-1A games will be played at Melrose High School Saturday.
