ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Baseball programs are looking forward to learning when they can begin playing.

The 2020 high school baseball season was canceled at the beginning of the pandemic.

Rio Rancho High School has been practicing for about a week

Practices start with temperature checks. The team is also divided into small groups to allow for social distancing.

Head Coach Ron Murphy said he is doing everything he can to make sure his team stays safe.

"We're getting used to it. The parents you can see, the parents drop the kids off, they don't get out of the car, kids come out one at a time, take their temperature run to their spot, they'll stay six feet apart out here, on deck, everywhere else, every group has their own bucket of baseballs. They don't share baseballs."
