ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The St. Pius volleyball team will have a new-look roster this season.

The 4A defending state champs have four returning players this year.

Volleyball teams around the state are still waiting for clearance to practice in full squads.

They can currently train in groups of 9-to-1 pods.

The Sartans are doing everything they can before the season tips off.

"It will be a new group, but they are ready and they've worked hard and done things on their own over the summer in this COVID world that's so hard to keep your kids engaged, especially when you can't go to the gym or the weight room or those types of things," said head coach Jordan Russell.

St. Pius opens the season with Cleveland on Saturday.
