ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Eldorado Eagles are one of four teams in class 5A that have gone undefeated in boys basketball.

The Eagles were at 7-0 entering their Holiday Break. That gave the players some extra time to hit the weights and get some rest.

Five of Eldorado’s seven wins have come by a margin of nine points or more.

Head coach Roy Sanchez said his three seniors have helped a big group of underclassmen get up to speed.

“We go back to the fundamentals. We're in the weight room now doing all the little things, all the little things that must be done in order to move forward,” Sanchez said.

Senior Jayvon Jefferson said he thinks the team is on the right track to victory.

“Strong start—we're just doing everything right so far. We've just got to keep doing that and just go hard in practice and play really hard in games,” he said.

Senior Deraje Agbaosi said winter break is a good opportunity to put in the work.

“The break is always good for us because we work hard all the time, but we're all gym rats and we like getting back on the court so it feels good to be back,” he said.

The Eagles will return to action Jan. 3 and Jan. 4 with Del Norte and Volcano Vista.
