ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-- The Volcano Vista girls basketball team is 6-1 this season with six straight wins.

With the week off for the holidays, the team is ready to return to action Friday at Rio Grande High School.

The Hawks brought back a lot of experience after making the state quarterfinals last year.

"The pressure was getting a little up there when you are undefeated so when you get that pressure taken off of you, we'll see how we bounce back from that," said head coach Lisa Villareal.

"I think it was good for us to kind of recoup especially coming back from the loss. I mean, that was a hard one, but I think it's good that we just got a break and we had enough time to come back together and practice," said player Kennedy Brown.

"We're excited Rio Grande on the third and just to get back into it. We want to get a metro win under our belt and get that blue shirt," said player Angelyn Aranda.
