ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- West Mesa's Emily Burk has quite the resume for a student athlete. She plays tennis, volleyball and basketball.
Last year, Burk helped the Mustangs win their first state title in program history.
"A lot of kids come up to us and say they watch us play or they've been to our games and saw the state championship and it's really cool to see what we've done for the community," Burk said.
Burk also works hard off-court too, maintaining a 4.3 GPA.
In tennis, Burk is a bit of a natural. She picked up the sport as a freshman.
By the following season, she became the first Mustang to qualify for the state tournament in over a decade.
"I enjoy seeing the different crowds in different schools' atmospheres for different sports and it's really cool to see different girls play different roles for each sport," she said.
Basketball is Burk's first love. She recently signed to play at New Mexico Highlands University.
She said she is excited to join former Mustang teammate Mia Rivas with the Cowgirls at the next level.
"Being able to play college basketball is a different level and I'm excited to play more basketball for another four years," Burk said.
