ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – You don't really choose your neighbors. It's more of a game of chance. When cardiac failure took away the love of Jimmy Lynn's life, the universe gave Lynn a friend – a man who had lived next door for more than 20 years.

Lynn's wife Karen lived with Type 1 diabetes nearly her whole life. As she got older, her health worsened. On top of that, Lynn learned he was in Stage 4 prostate cancer.

But hope took a familiar face in Lynn's neighbor, Fernando Cortes. For years, Cortes mowed the Lynns' lawn. After Lynn's wife passed away, Cortes gave him the kind of gift he needed at the time: the gift of healing. Cortes introduced Lynn to a religious support group for grieving spouses.

KOB's Chris Ramirez recently walked across the street with Lynn to Pay It 4ward to Cortes. Watch the video above to find out what happens next.
