BELEN, N.M. -- Alex Taylor is a former teacher at Belen High School. In his classroom, he's seen firsthand how many students who go without the things many others take for granted.

Many of those kids rely on slim school resources, and that's where Gloria Cordova comes in. She runs the school's Backpack Program. With her storage room full of goodies, pasta sauce and hygiene productions, Cordova packages them and hands them out to students in need.

Taylor said it may be the only way those students and their families keep food on their table over the weekend. The program is funded through donations, Taylor said, but Cordova has learned how to stretch a dollar.

Taylor wanted to Pay It 4ward to Cordova because of everything she does. A KOB news crew caught up with her in her storage workshop. Watch the video above for the full story.
