Pay It 4ward: Center fights to save injured birds

CORRALES, N.M. -- Each year, Mikal Deese cares for about 200 wild birds at her Corrales avian rehabilitation center called A Wing and a Prayer.

The center releases most back into the wild but keeps some to educate children. Many of the birds she takes in have been hurt.

Board members Michelle Frechette and Sandi Hoover presented the Pay It 4ward award of $400 to Deese, the non-profit's founder.
