Gov.-elect Lujan Grisham announces first three cabinet picks

SANTA FE, N.M.- Governor-elect Michelle Lujan Grisham announced her first three cabinet picks, since winning the November election.


She has tapped Olivia Padilla-Jackson to head the Department of Finance Administration.

Padilla-Jackson is currently the Budget Officer in the City of Albuquerque, where she oversees the city's budget. Padilla-Jackson is a graduate of the University of New Mexico.

Sarah Cottrell Propst has been nominated for Secretary of Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources.

Propst is the executive director of the Interwest Energy Alliance, a nonprofit organization that promotes renewable energy.

Propst also served as an energy and environmental policy advisor to former Governor Bill Richardson.

Dr. David R. Scrase has been tasked with taking over the Human Services Department. 

He's currently a professor of internal medicine and geriatrics at the UNM School of Medicine. He is also the Interim Division Chief for General Internal Medicine and the Chief of Geriatrics at UNM. 

The three appointees are subject to Senate confirmations once the 2019 Legislative session begins.
