EL PASO, TX- Hundreds of people gathered in El Paso, Texas to protest President Trump's Monday night rally.

The protesters don't like the president's stance on immigration. They also took issue with his statement about El Paso during the State of the Union address.

The president said El Paso was one of the most dangerous cities in the county until a "powerful barrier" was built.

However, statistics from the FBI dispute the president's assertions.

"We’ve been a safe city for many many years and the wall didn’t make us safer. We’ve always been that way. That bothers me. Plus, the treatment of immigrants and caging of children and the general fear of people to the south is wrong and inhumane," said Ted Johnson, who was participating in the protest.

Potential Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke participated in the protest and spoke to the group.

The group is marching toward a park, which is next to the El Paso Coliseum where the president is holding his rally.
