Immigration advocates excited to work with Governor-election Lujan Grisham

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - New Mexico's governor-elect, Michelle Lujan Grisham, is promising to protect so-called Dreamers in New Mexico.
During the news conference, members of United We Dream Action and New Mexico Dream Team why they're looking forward Lujan Grisham taking office.
"We're really hopeful because we know she has a tremendous track record in congress of supporting immigrant families," said Isaac de Luna, political director for New Mexico Dream Team.
He said the organization plans to reach out to Lujan Grisham so they can present a list of recommendations for the first 100 days of her administration.
“What's most important to us is to ensure that New Mexico positions itself as the state that is not going to comply with Trump’s immigration agenda," de Luna said.
Lujan Grisham sent the following statement about working with immigration advocates:
“As chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus I’ve fought Donald Trump every step of the way as he worked to separate innocent children from their families diverting precious resources away from the most dangerous criminals at the border like drug and human traffickers. As Governor, I will continue my commitment to securing our border, combatting the most dangerous criminals, protecting immigrant children and families, and protecting DREAMers.”
Lujan Grisham will be sworn into office Jan. 1.
