ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Gubernatorial candidates Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) and Steve Pearce (R) debated for nearly 60 minutes on KOB 4 Tuesday night.
The candidates answered questions from New Mexico voters, previously gathered from three town halls that were organized by the nonpartisan public policy ground New Mexico First and KOB 4.
The candidates highlighted their differences on various topics from crime, education, health care and the legalization of marijuana.
Both candidates also blamed prior administrations for problems in the state.
Pearce claimed Lujan Grisham would be a reflection of the Richard administration.
Lujan Grisham asserted that a Pearce administration would an extension of the Martinez administration.
The debate ended with both candidates giving their closing statements.
Lujan Grisham criticized for Pearce for a campaign that has continually launched what she called unfair attacks.
In Pearce's closing statement, he criticized Lujan Grisham's record as Health Secretary.
Early voting begins Oct. 20. The general election is Nov. 6.
