ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The race to be president of the Navajo Nation got a bit smaller this week.

Tribal election officials say candidate Lester Begay was disqualified because he was recalled within the past eight years. The field remains a crowded one, with a record 18 presidential candidates in the running.

The top two vote-getters in the August primary will choose their running mates and advance to the Nov. 6. general election.
