ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Congressman Steve Pearce is looking to be the next leader of New Mexico's Republican Party. The announcement comes following his recent defeat in the state's gubernatorial race.

“As I campaigned for Governor over the past two years, I met New Mexicans in every corner of the state and from all walks of life who share a burning hope for a brighter future," said Pearce. "Although we were not successful on November 6th, the work to bring meaningful change to the state we love is not over. Cynthia and I know that we can work alongside our fellow New Mexicans to rebuild our Party, elect common sense candidates across the state, and continue to do good for New Mexico."

If elected by the Republican Party's approximately 500 member State Central Committee, Pearce would serve as Chairman for a two-year term.

The election will be held on December 8 at the Marriott Pyramid in Albuquerque.
