Poll: Democrats Lujan Grisham, Heinrich hold leads over opponents

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Two New Mexico Democrats appear to have an edge over their opponents, according to a new poll.

Emerson College surveyed 500 registered voters.

In the race for New Mexico governor, the poll has Democratic Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham at 42 percent support.

Republican Steve Pearce has 40 percent, according to the poll. Eighteen percent are undecided.

In the race for U.S. Senate, Democrat Martin Heinrich maintains a large lead.

According to the poll, Heinrich has 49-percent support.

Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson has 21-percent support, while Republican Mick Rich is polling in third with 10-percent support.

Thirty percent of responders say they are still undecided.

The margin of error is plus or minus 4.6 percent.
