LUBBOCK, Texas – The season has come to an end for the New Mexico State baseball team, who lost in an elimination game to Kent State 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Texas.

The Aggies won 40 games in their 2018 campaign – their most since tallying 42 victories in 2009. They went 4-1 in the WAC Tournament to emerge as the conference tourney champions, but couldn't sustain that momentum in the NCAA Tournament.

NMSU lost 2-9 to Texas Tech on Friday before Saturday's elimination game that saw them leading 1-0 in the late innings. But a 2-run homer by Kent State catcher Pete Schuler in the eighth would prove to be the game-winning hit after a sterling 7.1-inning, nine-strikeout performance by Aggie starter Kyle Bradish.

The Aggies finish their season with a record of 40-22.
