ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – As the start of their season looms, the New Mexico State football team has a bit of a quarterback battle going on.

Tyler Rogers is gone after leading the team to its first bowl game in 57 years last season.

Five quarterbacks got in the mix during spring ball, but as fall practice gets closer, head coach Doug Martin says he's narrowed his options down to two, maybe three, to compete for the starting job.

"We're going to let Nick (Jeanty) and Matt Romero battle that out. Josh Adkins had a good camp for us—he'll be in that mix a little bit too," Martin said. "But spring enabled us to get it down to the top two or three, so now we can just let those guys go to work."

NMSU begins its season August 25 at home against Wyoming.
