ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – In Wednesday's baseball action, the Albuquerque Isotopes captured a 4-3 victory over the Salt Lake Bees
Infielder Garrett Hampson has been with the Isotopes for less than a week, but he's already making an impact. The 23-year-old Reno, Nevada native joined the club six days ago, and he's been in the line-up every day since.
Hampson went 3-for-5 in his debut May 17. He has at least one hit in three of the five games he's played.
The former Long Beach State standout feels right at home with his new teammates.
"Anytime you get to Triple A you're one step away," he said. "Just like any other guy would say here, you never know you can't worry about that stuff. All you can do is come to the field every day with the same approach and play hard. I know all these guys from spring training. We know each other. Obviously, you get new pieces and new players every now and then, so that's a part of it, and they've been very welcoming to me and a great group of guys."
Hampson came to Albuquerque after great stints in Single and Double A. He was an all-star in Lancaster and batted over .300 in Hartford before being called up to the Isotopes.
